SOLANA BEACH — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Solana Beach has published notice of a scheduled coastal rail shutdown Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, 2026, for maintenance and infrastructure work. North County Transit District says COASTER passenger service between Oceanside and San Diego will be suspended on both days.
What residents should know
According to the city’s October 29 release, regular COASTER service is expected to resume Monday morning, November 9, if work proceeds as planned. Dates may change because of weather or construction conditions.
Regular passenger and freight trains are not scheduled to operate during the full closure, but test trains, maintenance equipment and construction vehicles may still be present on or near the tracks. The public must only cross at legal designated crossings.
Rail users should check GoNCTD alerts for updated travel information and available alternatives before departure. The notice does not say every bus or other transit service will be suspended.
The weekend disruption is scheduled in advance rather than being an ongoing closure on November 3.
