SOLANA BEACH — CALIFORNIA58 LOCAL. Solana Beach celebrated an October 28 groundbreaking for the Lomas Santa Fe Corridor–East Improvement Project. The city estimates the investment at approximately $7.5 million and identifies the improvement area along Lomas Santa Fe Drive between Santa Helena Drive and Highland Drive.
What residents should know
Planned work includes reconstructing the roadway, new landscaped medians, Class II bicycle lanes, a multiuse path on the north side, improvements to the southern sidewalk, accessible curb ramps, drainage work and traffic signal upgrades.
The city says project financing includes federal Community Project Funding supported by Representative Mike Levin, local Measure S resources and transportation impact fees. Those sources show the mix of funding, but the ceremonial groundbreaking is not proof that construction is finished.
Changes to this corridor may affect commuting, school access and businesses during construction. Drivers, cyclists and walkers should watch for active lane restrictions and follow the city’s project-specific construction updates.
The final opening and traffic configuration must be confirmed with later city notices, rather than inferred from the October milestone.
